Prepare for high speed drifting, two-wheel driving and a 12-metre ramp to ramp jump when Team D-MAX return to Dubbo show this weekend.
The team is lead by Jack Monkhouse, who has been part of the precision driving unit for ten years.
The show is completely weather dependant, Mr Monkhouse said. While the team devised a basic routine, something as simple as a dusty track could impact the stunts they were able to perform.
“On the fly I’ll call the performance on the radio. The guys all have radios built into their helmets,” he said.
“If I get a call wrong it could end in disaster but all the guys trust my calls 100 per cent and we all trust each other.”
However, Mr Monkhouse said the width and surface of the track at Dubbo made it one of the best in the show circuit.
The biggest crowd pleaser was always the fast stunts, Mr Monkhouse said, and the four-way crossover.
“I tend to like the high speed spins and flicks butt he most challenging is the two-wheeled part of the show.
“It’s always a new experience because the surfaces are always changing.”
The D-MAX Team all have extensive experience, but Mr Monkhouse said something as simple as stalling an engine could end in disaster.
“Everyone is human and you do make mistakes so it does make it challenging,” he said.
The D-MAX show will be in the centre ring at 1.30pm and 7pm on Saturday, as well as 12pm on Sunday.
Mr Monhouse said while it would be visible from most angles the best vantage point would be at the grandstand.
