This year’s Group 1 Bathurst Gold Crown winner comes back to the scene of that success this Wednesday night, fresh off a victory in the Group 3 Rod Fitzpatrick Memorial at Menangle.
Geoff Simpson’s colt will be part of a strong $15,000 Alabar NSW Breeders Challenge 2YO Colts & Geldings Heat (1,730 metres) at Bathurst Paceway, going out from gate six.
One of the biggest challengers standing in the way of Castalong Shadow is Steve Turnbull’s Maximus Red.
The American Ideal colt had a nice pay day last start with victory in the Group 2 APG Consolation Final.
A heat of the Club Dubbo Garrard’s Golden Gig series will be raced on the night as well with the Michael Carroll-trained Our Grasshopper the lone Dubbo hope in the race. Our Grasshopper has won four ties in 26 starts but hasn’t had a victory since November of 2015.
Meeting starts at 4.57pm.
