Mr Walkom was one of three to take part in the Novice Auctioneers Competition on Monday, along with Holly Lewis and Tom Pollard.
Mr Walkom sold a beauty voucher for $200, Ms Lewis sold a weekend away at Lake Keepit State Park for $350 and Mr Pollard sold a meat tray for $210. Those items raised $760, while a further 15 items were also auctioned to boost the total raised to $4,960.
Mr Walkom works for Bob Berry Real Estate as a property manager and said he was nervous before the competition but enjoyed it.
Joe will now compete in the NAC State Final in Sydney where the overall winner scoops $1,000, gets to conduct the charity auction at the REINSW Women in Real Estate Conference, and receive two tickets to the REINSW Awards for Excellence dinner.
Mr Walkom said he was hoping to get plenty more practise in before the final, which will include winners of 10 heats.
