Nine rifle shooters, including one visitor, competed over a tricky and challenging 900 yards at the Narromine-Dubbo rifle range last Saturday.

All those in attendance had to contend with a strong mirage and a slight tail wind which proved testing for all involved as it changed direction rapidly throughout the day.
At the end of the first stage, Norm Brown held the lead in target rifle with a hit of 47/50, while in F-class, Clive Simpson had a score of 51/60 to hold a narrow lead over a number of other competitors.
In the second stage, a consistent Norm Brown fired another 47/50 to finish with a 94/100 off-rifle total and a win in the A-grade Cock O’the Walk.
Clive Simpson finished off with a 54/60 to win F-class with a total of 105/120.
Rob Rainbow won the B-grade badge and Aron Horder won C-grade after firing a great 49/50 in his second stage.
The weekly handicap trophy went to Norm Brown and the “pin-hole” escaped unscathed for another week.
Individual scores were as follows: Scott Monaghan 50/51, F-class total 101/120; Clive Simpson 51/54, F-class total 105/120; Rob Rainbow 44/45, off-rifle 89, handicap 7, total 96/100; Josh Doughty 41/37, visitor total 78/120; Simon Etcell 46/37, F-class total 83/120; Norm Brown 47/47, off-rifle 94, handicap 3, total 97/100; Aron Horder 37/49, off-rifle 86, handicap 8, total 94/100; Krystal Tyack 39/42, F-class total 81/120; Alan Taylor 50/53, F-class total 104/120.
This coming Saturday, March 18, the shooting for those in attendance will be from 1000 yards starting at 12:30pm.
On Sunday, March 19, the club will hold the 1000 yards benchrest shoot for anyone interested.
