The NSW government has provided funding to 128 councils across the state to run events for small businesses for the inaugural Back to Business Week.
Dubbo Regional Council has received $10,000 in funding and council’s manager city development and communications Natasha Comber said the two events which were running would provide business owners with information and motivation to make the best out of their business.
“Using the grant funding we have been able to engage Dan Gregory, an expert on leadership, behavioural research and creative and critical thinking, and well-known to many for his regular appearances on ABC TV’s Gruen series,” Ms Comber said.
Mr Gregory is the co-founder and CEO of The Impossible Institute, a strategic think-tank that helps organisations develop capabilities in strategic leadership and influence.
He will be speaking at an event hosted by council at the Dubbo Regional Theatre and Convention Centre on Tuesday, as well as the Dubbo Chamber of Commerce breakfast at Taronga Western Plains Zoo on March 1.
“The event held by council is free and is an excellent opportunity for business owners and I would encourage people from Dubbo and Wellington to attend and gain an insight into how they can grow their businesses,” Ms Comber said.
Deputy Premier and Small Business Minister John Barilaro said Back to Business Week was a public acknowledgement of the outstanding contribution that more than 690,000 small businesses made in NSW.
“NSW is a powerhouse of opportunity, and with almost 98 per cent of all businesses in this state run as small businesses, we have a lot to celebrate and be thankful for,” he said.
Mr Barilaro said the NSW government was working hard to make sure small businesses remained confident, jobs were created and there was economic growth in the community.
