Staggs had just capped off another incredible year by playing a starring role as the Cowboys’ under-18s side won the Group 11 grand final.
And if his first appearance up north is anything to go by, supporters have every right to feel hopeful about the youngster’s chances.
The versatile Staggs made his first appearance for the Broncos on the weekend, and was a standout in the clash with affiliate club Norths Devils.
Staggs, placed on the wing for his first match, scored his side’s first try in the win while he also kicked three conversions from five attempts in blustery conditions.
Staggs, who has previously represented NSW in the under-16s State of Origin, has two more trial matches to further showcase his skills before the Broncos’ 2017 Holden Cup season gets underway on March 2 against Cronulla.
