Brothers Bailey and Mitchell James have starred on the track in recent years and this weekend the pair will again attend the prestigious Troy Bayliss Classic at Taree. The pair grew up in Eumungerie before moving to the Hunter roughly 10 years ago, where they truly discovered their passion for racing.
“There’s nothing they would prefer to do,” the duo’s father Michael James said.
“We’ve been going away for just about every weekend for 10 years.”
The hard work has all been worth it as the pair, 20-year-old Bailey and 17-year-old Mitchell, have won NSW titles and Australian titles as well as Central Coast Cups and Track Masters events.
And a big part of why they do so well is the fact they still get all their equipment from Mathews Motorcycles at Dubbo.
“They’ve been a massive sponsor and massive support,” James said.
“We still keep in touch with people (at Dubbo) and we get all our support through Mathews.
“The support and service is so much more than we get here, even though this community is a real hub for dirt track racing.”
The pair will be aiming for more success at Taree this weekend.
“It’s just incredible,” James said of the Troy Bayliss Classic. “The atmosphere and there’s racers from America and Japan. They all race in the All-Star class but just being in the same pits is absolutely incredible.”
