On Friday the Daily Liberal reported that DNA tests had confirmed that bones and fragments found near Butlers Falls belonged to the young mother, murdered in 2005 by her cousin Malcolm Naden.

The story, dubbed It was Lateesha, was posted on the Daily Liberal’s Facebook page late on Friday afternoon.

By Tuesday afternoon it had been shared 153 times and reached almost 22,700 people, including Kayla Nolan.

In a heart-wrenching post, Kayla said: “I love you mummy.”

“I know you didn't leave me on purpose” and  “we can lay you to rest now”, the teenager told her late mother.

Kayla expressed hope that her mother would be proud of her.

She told of doing her “best in school” and wishing her mother could see her get an education and “do good in life”. “I miss you more everyday,” Kayla wrote.

The post prompted other Facebook users to offer support and encouragement.

“Bless you Kayla, I'm sure ur (sic) mum is way proud of you! Always! Bless,” wrote Catherine Anne Clare.

Cherrinea Broughton told Kayla  “your mum would be proud of you”.

Sarah Willcockson said: “You pore (sic) baby girl. May all your hopes and dreams come true. Your mother will be proud and always with you where ever (sic) you go. God bless you.”

Kayla responded with a friendly “thanks guys”, accompanied by a red heart emoji.

Sympathy for the loved ones of Lateesha Nolan was evident in other posts. “I’m sure it will be a relief for the family to finally be able to lay Lateesha to rest. Rest in peace,” said Allison Kelly.

Val Longmire said “now finally some closure for her family”. “So sad it took so long to locate her. RIP,” she said.

The December recovery by police of Lateesha Nolan’s remains followed the discovery of a femur bone by a passer-by. Malcolm Naden was convicted of the murder in 2012, after seven years on the run from police.
