The teenager spent 2016 battling acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL) and spent most of the year at the Westmead Children’s Hospital in Sydney.
But earlier this month she received good news, as a bone marrow biopsy came back clear of cancer.
Last week she and her little sister Ezeline celebrated with a long-awaited motorbike ride around Wongarbon and Ballimore with members of the Bikers Australia Central West chapter.
The group raised funds for the Ferguson family through November’s Dice Ride and Show and Shine event. But Teagan, who was in isolation at the time following a bone marrow transplant, had been unable to participate.
“I said to her ‘as soon as you’re well enough, we’ll take you for a ride’,” Bikers Australia Central West member Darrel Harvey said.
“It was a beautiful afternoon … she really enjoyed it.
“It was really good, one because she’s getting better and two because to put a smile on a kid’s face, that’s what it’s all about.”
Teagan will now undergo tests every two months for two years to ensure the leukaemia doesn’t return.
