The Tigers made the most of the home ground advantage and were crowned GrainCorp Northern Division premiers courtesy of a 24-7 win over the Molong Magpies.
The game, played in front a large group of spectators from both clubs, was a classic grand final and only one try separated the teams heading into half time.
Outside centre Brenton Montgomery took an intercept pass and raced away to set up a 7-0 lead and that was how it stayed until the break.
The Tigers scored their second early in the second half through fullback Damian Tegart before the determined Magpies finally crossed through Michael Thompson but that was as close as the men in black and white got.
“It has been a wonderful season for the Tigers and to win the club’s fourth premiership, the previous one being 27 years ago, is tremendous effort by the team and the club as a whole,” Trangie president Tim Wray said.
While admitting Trangie was the better side, Molong coach Graham Hobbs said a lack of execution at key moments cost his team.
“We had a lot of opportunities to score in that first half and we just didn’t take them,” he said.
“It was then the other way around in the second half, and Trangie took their chances.
“That was the difference really. We just had a couple of dropped passes when we should have scored.”
