And you would be right.
Today marks a change in the way we deliver news to the people of Dubbo and the greater western region.
What you see is a new-look print edition of the Liberal, one which we are proud of and hope you embrace.
Since 1874 we have been there delivering the stories that matter to you, our loyal readers.
Through fire and flood, in tragedy and triumph, we have been there telling your stories and campaigning to make the city of Dubbo, and through it the Orana region, a great place to live.
But it isn’t 1874 anymore. In fact, the way we deliver news in 2016 is vastly different to how we delivered it in 2015.
The changes you notice in the Liberal today are a symbol of an ever-changing media landscape, where the immediacy of digital news presentation has taken on a more significant role than ever before.
Which is why the new way our staff operates gives readers the best of both worlds.
It gives us the opportunity to remain relevant and up-to-date in a sector that has changed dramatically in recent times and continues to evolve.
With the new technology at our disposal, we don’t have to be tied to our desks in order to write the stories we present on a day-to-day basis, as you can see in the accompanying photo featuring journalists Orlander Ruming and Taylor Jurd.
Our staff could be at any of the local cafes sipping on a coffee, they could be live at any major announcement bringing it to you, or our dedicated sports team could be updating things from the sidelines of any particular match they are covering.
While we are changing to a new way of working that provides regular updates to our website (www.dailyliberal.com.au) and our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages, that doesn’t mean the end for our printed product.
From Monday to Saturday each week we will continue to put out a hard copy edition of the paper for you to read, in the same way we have done for the past 142 years.
The staff look forward to sharing this journey with you as we ride a wave of change that sees this city’s only daily newspaper continue to grow and prosper, both in print and through our online presence.
