I took the opportunity last week to meet with the administrator of the new Western Plains Regional Council, Mr Michael Kniepp.
It was a productive discussion and I look forward to building on this relationship in the coming months. I am optimistic about the future of the new entity. We have a lot to be proud of and together, we have so much to look forward to.

IT was a privilege to present Mr Ron Paxton of Geurie with a certificate of appreciation from the Attorney-General for 50 years of service as a Justice of the Peace for New South Wales.
I congratulate and thank Ron for his service to the Geurie and surrounding communities.

Later this week as the Leader of the Nationals I will attend the NSW Nationals State Conference with my Parliamentary colleagues and a great number of party members. The conference will provide a unique opportunity for MPs and grassroots members to meet and debate policy and the future direction of the party. I look forward to championing the issues that matter and are of concern to so many in my electorate and across the regions.

I'm pleased to announce that applications are now invited for a share in more than $1.1 million in funding for innovative projects that will help young people realise their full potential and benefit the wider community through the Youth Opportunities Program.
Community organisations and local councils can apply for grants of up to $50,000 for new projects that support young people's participation, engagement and inclusion in the community.
The online application process opened on Monday May 23 and closes at 5:00pm on Monday June 27. Successful applications will be announced later in 2016 and more information on Youth Opportunities can be found at: www.youth.nsw.gov.au.

This week is being promoted as National Palliative Care Week and the theme this year is 'Living Well with Chronic Illness'.
This year's theme is about addressing the need for people with advanced chronic illness to be able to access palliative care and the misconception that only cancer patients can access palliative care
I have met with a number of passionate advocates and discussed the need for better palliative care support here in Dubbo and across the region.
National Palliative Care Week is an initiative of Palliative Care Australia and commenced in 1996. Its purpose is to raise awareness of palliative care and encourage a conversation about death and dying.
The NSW Government has made significant funding enhancements to palliative services and the palliative care workforce over the past five years. We've done much but acknowledge that there's more to do in this space.

Visit to Narromine and Brocklehurst
It was good to visit Narromine and Brocklehurst this week to see first-hand what different community groups like the Orana Aquatic Swimming Club and the Brocklehurst Pony Club are working hard to achieve in partnership with the Government and the community.
I'm back in Sydney for Parliament next week and for those farmers working the paddocks in the middle of crop sowing, I hope some more rain falls soon.
