Nominations are open until 5pm on Friday, March 11, for the award which acknowledges the achievements and contributions of residents aged 55 years and over as part of NSW Seniors Week.
Dubbo mayor Mathew Dickerson said many local community groups relied on the diligent work of senior citizens who dedicated their time to volunteering to ensure organisations could continue to have the resources to operate.
"The 2016 Senior Citizen of the Year award is all about acknowledging and respecting the wonderful contribution Dubbo's older generation consistently makes for our local community," Cr Dickerson said.
"Whether that is through volunteering, education, donations, and charity services- however they have chosen to get involved in the community. I am positive all our lives have been improved in some way by the work of our senior citizens."
The winner of the 2016 Senior Citizen of the Year Award will be determined by a committee comprised of previous winners.
It will be presented at the Dubbo RSL Memorial Club on Wednesday, April 6, during the Seniors Week Expo.
Nominations forms are available from council's Civic Administration Building, the Western Plains Cultural Centre, the Dubbo branch of Macquarie Regional Library, Dubbo Neighbourhood Centre and at www.dubbo.nsw.gov.au.
