THE Western Region Academy of Sport (WRAS) is holding a netball summer camp at the CSU Bathurst Gymnasium from January 15-17, where netballers aged 13-15 years from the Hunter Academy of Sport will be joining the western region athletes from Bathurst, Blayney, Cowra, Dubbo, Forbes, Orange, Parkes and Young for the camp.
A total of 60 netballers (athletes and coaches) will be in attendance for the three-day camp.
It will be a busy time for the girls with six training sessions, a drug and alcohol workshop, strength and conditioning, a pool and recovery workshop and a final tournament.
"The bonus of having the Hunter Academy involved is that it provides a great opportunity for us to conduct specialist sessions for the athletes with a high coach-to-athlete ratio and good quality coaching," WRAS head netball coach Linda Macleod said.
Netballers Teagan Germech, Olivia Johnston and Alexandra Ridley from Bathurst will be attending.
An open session for local coaches will be held on Sunday from 9.15-10.15am.
This session will focus on footwork, passing and basic skills.
This will provide an excellent opportunity for local coaches to witness two of Netball NSW leading coaches, Linda Macleod and the Hunter head coach, Maria Hoad, in action.
All parents and spectators are also welcome from 10.30am-12.30pm on Sunday morning when the tournament takes place.
