In the opening two matches yesterday, Western finished 0-0 with Metro West and then went down 2-0 to Metro East.
The titles have brought together the best young players in under-12s, 14s and 16s divisions with country teams Western, South and Riverina up against the top teams from the Sydney metropolitan area.
While Western will be looking for Country Championship success, their fate won't be known until the last round of games Friday morning.
Western 12s are being coached by Mudgee's Jason Payne with Luke Farraway (Bathurst) his manager. In the side are three Wellington girls - Shania Sarsfield, Maggie Smith and Breeana Trappett - and Dubbo's Charlotte Duffy.
"Unfortunately the girls have struggled with the 4-3-3 foundation set down by Football New South Wales, a move that they see as part of the development of the game at the next level," Payne said.
"Everyone needs to be on the same page but to the girls it's all new to them and they're still asking questions about where they should be on the field.
"We've had two games today, learnt something each time and I'm hopeful we can improve a bit each day."
Western had a few live chances to find the back of the net against Metro West but neither side could find the mark.
Unfortunately for Western in game two, Metro East scored early, held that lead at half- time then scored a great team goal mid term.
Sadly for Western all their hard work to build pressure was defused in front of the Metro East goal, then the visitors went down the left side and scored with just two players playing a part.
Metro East had most of the attacking game in their favour and only some stubborn defence from the backs and the goalkeeper kept the score down to two.
Team manager Luke Farraway said it would take Western a few games to get it together, despite having seven girls backing up from the Western Mariners in the Women's Super League this season.
"It think if these girls take control of the situation, then we can make some inroads," he said.
"The Mariners made the semi-finals this year and play against most of the girls here at the carnival.
"Obviously it hasn't been easy for us to train together with the girls coming from all over the western area, but we've got to be patient."
From the Mariners network in the Western 12s side are Jessie Medlyn from Orange, Gabrielle Farraway (Bathurst), Freh Ward (Lithgow), Beth Bernardi (Forbes), Zoey Dwyer (Oberon), Kimeaka Evans (Parkes) and Evangeline Endacott from Mudgee.
