The tour costs $15 per person and kids under three years free, with money raised going toward Dubbo's Christian community radio station Rhema FM 94.3.
Organiser Nikki Sinclair expects the tour to be popular amongst community members of all ages.
"I have seen the expansion of Christmas lights each year," she said.
"Dubbo really gets into the Christmas spirit and now we see the CBD decorating their shop windows and the council erecting decorations along Talbragar Street and Macquarie Street.
"Grandparents bring the grandchildren aboard as it is a safer and an easier option than driving while groups get together for their Christmas party.
"Parents join other parents and enjoy the children's delight firstly with the novelty of getting on the bus and then the thrill of the pretty Christmas lights."
Rhema FM 94.3 operates purely on memberships, donations, fundraising and sponsorship. Tickets must be paid for on booking at the Christian Book Centre in Talbragar Street.
The Big Red Bus Christmas tours run from December 20 to 23, and departs from the Generocity Church car park at 51 Sheraton Road at 8.20pm.
