With no SCG Cup this season, Dubbo entered a team in the Country Cup and came into the competition in the third round, much like Parkes.
The visitors played a much different side to usual, with none of their big name players in the squad.
Instead there was a mix of youth and experience which made the trip to North Parkes Oval.
But the home side proved far too strong, with Heraghty top scoring with 81 before taking two big wickets with the ball.
Like so many times in the past, Heraghty opened the batting after he won the toss and he got his side off to a flying start.
Parkes passed 50 inside nine overs before Dubbo struck, with Ben Taylor trapping Pete Yelland (8) in front.
Dubbo bowlers continued to take wickets and at one stage were on top as they reduced Parkes to 7-175.
But Parkes’ tail wagged with Blake Smith (45 not out) and Toby Nash (15 not out) helping the score to 8-247 at the end of 50 overs.
Rugby all-rounder Jacob Hill bowled well late on, taking 3-32 from 10 overs while Taylor (2-27) and Stuart Naden (2-46) were the other multiple wicket-takers.
Dubbo’s run chase did not begin well when Jason Green departed without scoring in his return to representative cricket.
Matt Ellis and Marty Jeffrey also departed early, leaving Dubbo at 3-20 and in real trouble.
Heraghty brought himself into the attack and after removing opener Paul Hulthen (14) he later removed Stuart Naden, who capped off a handy game personally with 40.
Dubbo captain Nathan Munro provided the real resistance in the middle order but he was struggling to find a partner to stay with him.
Munro passed 50 but fell with the score on 165 and it was soon all over as the visitors fell 70 runs short.
Phil Dunford was again the pick of the Parkes bowlers, finishing with 4-42 from his ten overs.
Fellow new ball bowler Myles Smith took 2-33 while Heraghty finished with 2-52.
While Dubbo’s campaign is over, Parkes now move on to round four where they will meet Murray Valley on December 13.
