BRODIE Wheeler, the current leader of the Percy Dawson Memorial Trophy overall point score standings, continued his stranglehold on junior division one on Tuesday night, taking out another two events at Dubbo Cycle Club's track night.
Wheeler was the winner of the three and four-lap scratch races, with Zac Fuller (four-lap) and Trent Hines (two-lap) winning the two handicap events over Joe Sinclair, Imogen Fuller, Zara Fuller and Louis Russell.
Luke Ensor (eight-lap scratch race and two-lap handicap), Mick Ticehurst (12-lap scratch race) and Adam Mitchell (four-lap handicap) proved too strong in taking out the A-grade events, while Kurt Eather, Vaughn Eather and Chris Couper filled the minor placings.
In just his second week of racing, Simon Allen was the victor of the two and four-lap B grade handicap and six-lap scratch race and Dave Clark was the winner of the eight-lap scratch race, with Sam Fitzgerald, Gary Barber, Simon Meredith, Jason Farr and Dylan Eather finishing on the podium throughout the night.
Thirteen riders took to the track in C-grade, with Greg Willmot winning the four-lap handicap and five-lap scratch race, while Aaron Willmot won the two-lap handicap and Craig Granger took out the six-lap scratch race, leaving Brad Acheson, Haylee Fuller, Jacob Smyth and Chris Brook to battle for the minor placings.
For the second week in a row, Helen Hines took out the two-lap and four-lap D-grade handicaps, with young rider Lachie Clark winning both scratch events and Michelle Fuller, Lachlan Sinclair and Kevin Couper taking out the minor placings.
Tyrone Smyth was the winner of both the junior division two scratch races and Will Gilbert won the three-lap handicap, with Tyler Barnes, Tom Russell and Angus Campbell registering minor placings.
Georgia and Lachlan Farr, Chris Gilbert, Rocco Wrigley and Emily Hines ensured some competitive racing took place in the junior development division, with Gilbert, Hines and Wrigley the winners of the four events.
The third round of the wheelrace series will take place next Tuesday night, with events for the men, women and juniors.
Sign on starts at 5.45pm and finishes at 6.20pm, with racing to get underway at 6.30pm.
Canteen facilities are available at the track for all riders and spectators.
Meanwhile, Dubbo Cycle Club riders Luke Ensor, Kurt Eather, Dylan Eather and Darrell Wheeler have been rewarded for their stellar season on the bike winning the Australian Sports Achievement Award for their individual success across state, national and world levels.
Darrell Wheeler won bronze in the individual pursuit at the Masters World Track Championships, while Luke Ensor was the winner of four medals at the National Junior Track titles and two medals at the National Junior Road Championships.
Kurt Eather was the winner of the national under-15 road race and finished third in the criterium at the same championships, with younger brother Dylan the winner of state titles on the road and track in the under-13s division.
