The fundraising effort wrapped up on Friday with an afternoon tea and raffle for Kailem, whose grandmother, Mary Fisher, is a resident at Dubbo Gardens.
Eighteen-year-old Kailem was diagnosed with Ewing's Sarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer, in November 2014.
Kailem has undergone a total of 30 treatments of radiation and is set to start his last round of chemotherapy on Wednesday, September 16. In October, he will meet with his doctors to find out if the treatments have worked.
Kailem's mother, Donna Fisher, said the funds would help the family cover the costs of the accommodation and travel associated with Kailem's treatment.
Dubbo Gardens manager David Linton said the residents were always glad to help out.
"We always have fundraisers for big things like the Cancer Council and the RSPCA, but I thought we could help more by supporting a local person or family," he said.
