A SYDNEY-BOUND Regional Express (Rex) flight forced to turn back to Dubbo following a suspected electrical fault was the only cancellation on the Dubbo to Sydney route for the month of July, according to latest on-time figures.

Despite that cancellation and Rex and rival airline QantasLink both recording one cancellation on the Sydney to Dubbo route in July, Rex outperformed QantasLink when it came to both on-time arrivals and departures between the two centres for that month.
The Domestic airline on time performance July 2015 report records punctuality and reliability for all Australian domestic routes for which passenger loads averaged 8000 or more passengers per month over the previous six months where at least two airlines operated the route.
For the Dubbo to Sydney route, Rex departed on time in 87.3 per cent of its 138 flights, compared with QantasLink's 74.4 per cent of its 96 flights.
For arrivals on the same route, Rex arrived on time in 85.4 per cent of its 135 flights, compared with QantasLink's 74.4 per cent of its 96 flights.
For the Sydney to Dubbo route, Rex arrived on time in 84.3 per cent of its 134 flights, while of the 92 QantasLink flights, 71.9 per cent were on time.
For departures on that route, of the 130 Rex flights, 81.8 per cent were on time, compared with 66.4 per cent of QantasLink's 85 flights.
Dubbo airport dipped out on a berth in the top 10 lists for the most punctual airports for arrivals and departures.
As has been the case with previous reports, mining centres topped the tables.
Mount Isa, Queensland topped the table for arrivals (95.3 per cent of flights on time), followed by WA airports Newman (94.8 per cent), Karratha (93.7 per cent), Port Hedland (92.7 per cent) and Kalgoorlie 92.4 per cent.
Mount Isa ranked equal fifth for July when it came to on-time departures (90.6 per cent on time). The most punctual were the four WA mining centres of Newman (96.3 per cent), Kalgoorlie (92.4 per cent), Port Hedland (92.3 per cent) and Karratha (90.6).
