DUBBO can expect a $60,000 windfall from hosting the fifth stage of the Evocities MTB series, with several industries to benefit such as accommodation providers, restaurants, cafes, supermarkets, petrol stations and tourist attractions, according to Dubbo mayor Mathew Dickerson.

The race, which Dubbo is hosting but will be held at a track closer to Geurie, is on this Sunday.
Cr Dickerson is confident there will be about 200 competitors, who along with friends or family who are travelling with them, will see about 300 visitors to Dubbo during the weekend.
"Numbers may depend on the weather, but if we get 200 people, the majority will stay at least one night and a lot will stay two nights," he said.
"The general number we use for everyone that stays a night in Dubbo is $132, so say we round that up to $200 as some people are staying multiple nights, and we have an extra 100 people who are spectators and family members, that comes to $60,000 which is great for our economy.
"There are a lot of businesses that will benefit from this event as people need to stay somewhere, eat somewhere and will be looking to do things before or after the race.
"I was speaking to someone this morning (Tuesday) who is coming to Dubbo on Friday so he and his family can go to the zoo which I was very pleased to hear."
While there is an immediate financial benefit for Dubbo for hosting the fifth stage of the Evocities MTB series, Cr Dickerson believes there could be a substantial flow-on effect in the weeks, months and years to come.
"Dubbo gets the exposure of people coming for this event," he said.
"From these experiences, it can lead to return trips or even people coming to live here.
"You can't put a dollar figure on that but the more people we have coming here is a good thing for Dubbo.
"All the money that comes into the economy is then spent in other areas like more employees for businesses and more services."
Despite Dubbo experiencing some less-than-desirable weather in recent days, and more forecast leading up to Sunday, Cr Dickerson is encouraging everyone to get out and involve themselves on Sunday.
"We talk about diabetes and health issues in Dubbo, so events like this are a great thing to support," he said.
"I really encourage people to go along and take part, or just to watch and support the riders."
