Jessica said that she will use the money to help her achieve her career goal of becoming a physiotherapist.
“I am very proud and honoured to have been awarded the Dubbo City Council Scholarship,” Jessica said.
“There are no words to express how grateful and appreciative I am.”
Dubbo mayor Mathew Dickerson congratulated Jessica on winning the scholarship.
“This is another example of how Dubbo City Council helps young people in our community to get the best education possible and contribute to a skilled workforce in Dubbo,” Cr Dickerson said.
“While Council provides the funding for the scholarship Miss O’Connor has been selected by the University on merit.”
“To be eligible students must firstly reside within the Dubbo LGA as well as meet certain criteria including sound academic achievement, community and regional involvement and demonstrate career goals and aspirations,” Cr Dickerson said.
Cr Dickerson said that academic scholarships undoubtedly make an enormous impact on the lives and families of many students as well the CSU community at large.
Jessica said the scholarship alleviates some of the financial stress and pressure that comes with going to university.
“It allows me to focus more on my studies rather than working to cope with all of my expenses,” she said.
The Dubbo City Council Scholarship is one of 273 awarded by the CSU Foundation Trust.
