A 15-YEAR-OLD student is among three Dubbo College players selected as part of the Greater Western Combined High School rugby league side.
Year 10 student Clayton Couley will join Harry van Dartel and Hayden Kemper from year 12 in the team, which combines the best talent of Western CHS and North West CHS sides.
Couley, who will take up a second row position in the Greater Western side, has been playing rugby league since he was six-years-old, having been encouraged by his father, a former Nyngan player, and together with fullback van Dartel and centre Kemper, all play for Macquarie in the local competition.
The three say they feel privileged to be selected and are looking forward to the challenge when they trial for State CHS in Newcastle on May 22.
Meanwhile Dubbo College rugby league coach Craig May said the College had a solid 66-10 win over Parkes High in round one of University Shield.
After a slow start, with a lot of ball turned over, the side clicked into gear to lead 36-4 at half time and continued to play strongly in the second half.
First time representatives Dean Walk, Dan Neil and Stephen Leask all played strongly while Tyson Fuller, Jaidyn Chapman and Darryl Simpson were prominent.
The 2015 competition represents the first time co-captains have been appointed to the Dubbo College team, with Phillip Combridge and van Dartel becoming the 13th and 14th players to captain Dubbo College.
In the next University Shield game Dubbo College will take on the winner of the Bourke v Narromine contest in an away game.
