Last time the Gulgong trainer started a race with his filly One Last Poet it was the first heat of the Country Championships, the CDRA Qualifier at Bathurst back on March 1.
One Last Poet finished second that day, advancing to the $300,000 final at Randwick on April 4 in the process.
On Sunday the filly will go around in much less fanfare, jumping from barrier five in the final race of the day at Dubbo Turf Club, The Milestone Hotel Class 3 Handicap (1200m).
Thompson will be no doubt keenly watching the WRA Country Championship at 4.20pm on Sunday, scoping out some of his rivals for the $300,000 event next month. His focus will then turn back to One Last Poet, one of his nine gallopers from his stable in action on Sunday.
With a win and two seconds from her past three starts, the Randwick-bound three-year-old will no doubt be a frontrunner on the day.
Thompson will also be one to watch in the Myer Benchmark 60 Handicap - Heat of the Rising Star (1600m), with two chances in action.
In a race featuring a number of talented horses, Thompson will have Excited Lover and Saturlina jumping from barriers 12 and 10 respectively.
Other chances in the race include Tuliman, who has two wins from the last two starts, Clint Lundholm's Blinkin' Elle, Barry Lunn's Over In Killarney and the Mark Jones-trained Victoria Crown.
One of the most in-form gallopers on the day will be featuring in race four, the Robert Oatley Vineyards Class 1 Handicap, with Had Your Chance looking for win number five from his past seven starts.
The Ricky Watt-trained gelding has been near unstoppable in 2015 with wins at Orange, Condobolin, Geurie and Yass. But after dominating picnic meetings, Sunday will be a step up in class against last-start winners Aussie Thunder, trained by Sharon Jefferies, Michael Lunn's Didyahearme and the Dennis Bush-trained Call Me Up.
