The list was compiled by travel website Trivago from more than 120 million traveller reviews, and rated destinations on the price and reputation of their accommodation.
Minister for Regional Tourism John Barilaro said seven regional NSW towns appeared in the top 10, an indication regional NSW led the way when it came to affordable holiday spots.
"We all know about the natural beauty of our state, but this proves that we are also second to none when it comes to value and quality accommodation," he said.
"North Coast hot spot Yamba came out on top, closely followed by Merimbula," he said.
"The other NSW towns to feature in the top 10 were Forster, Narooma, Ulladulla, Ballina and Eden, with Bathurst at number 14, Orange at 17 and Coffs Harbour, Port Stephens and Port Macquarie all in the top 30.
"I encourage everyone to get out and about in NSW and explore what our regions have to offer. Whether it's for a short break or a longer stay, our coastal and inland locations have something for everyone.
"Locals and visitors alike should make sure they put these fantastic destinations on their list for 2015 as they feature spectacular scenery, a wide range of experiences, friendly locals and as this list highlights, are all value for money."
