CYMS will be looking to take advantage of some key absences in the Macquarie line-up today in the final one-day match of the 2014-15 Whitney Cup season.
Following this weekend there will be two rounds of two-day matches before the finals and despite the Cougars finals chances appearing slim, they'll still be out for victory today.
Macquarie have been hit hard by player unavailability this round with Jason Green and Haylock brothers Ed and Joe all out.
Green's absence is a major one as he made an unbeaten century last time the two sides met while Ed Haylock has been a consistent performer at the top of the order all season.
The pair are both inside the top 10 leading run-scorers this season and comfortably the two leading run-scorers for the Blues.
Joe Haylock has also been a regular in the side and his lower order batting and useful medium pace will be sorely missed.
The Cougars are boosted by the return of Ben Strachan with their only main absence that of Dale O'Donnell, who is still out injured.
CYMS only just avoided an outright loss last match against Newtown while Macquarie also went down in a heavy defeat to RSL-Colts.
The Blues were dismissed for just 123 against Colts and will be keen to produce a much bigger score in today's clash, with plenty of pressure now on Keiran Brien and Justin Gavin.
Despite missing three key players the Blues have plenty to play for with a win today keeping alive their top three hopes.
In today's other match, competition leaders Newtown meet South Dubbo at No. 2 Oval.
With less than three points between the Tigers and second-placed Colts, Mat Skinner's men will be keen to build on last week's win over CYMS
Last time the two sides Souths were victorious, piling on more than 300 runs as they handed Newtown their first loss of the season.
The Hornets have only won one match since then and their own finals hopes have taken a real blow in recent weeks.
Last weekend they pushed Rugby before going down by 22 runs.
Tim Berry starred in that match and will be key today, as will Matt Finlay and Asher Robins.
As always for Newtown they will be led by Skinner brothers Mat and Steve while Dan Horrocks will also be one to watch as he debuts for the Tigers and makes his first appearance in the Whitney Cup since being part of Rugby's title winning side last season.
