Orana Heights Before and After School Care (OHBASC) has completed the move into its own facility at Orana Heights Public School and co-ordinator Cathy Buckley said it was an historic moment for the centre.
"It's been a long time coming. We took delivery of an empty shell in December 2013 and then we were able to move into the new building in November," Ms Buckley said.
"We have still been carrying out some work but now it is all done, apart from a little bit of painting.
"But basically since we started and we were working out of what is now the uniform shop we dreamed of having our own permanent building."
Ms Buckley said parents had been invaluable to the project, particularly Kellyann Johnson, who took on the role of project manager.
"Without the help of the community it wouldn't have happened," she said.
"We have spent $67,000 to date and there has been so much in the way of items and labour that has been donated.
"We couldn't have afforded it otherwise."
"Harvey Norman donated the kitchen and the appliances and Steve O'Brien from Carpet Choice donated all the carpets and vinyl flooring. That has helped to finish it off."
OHBASC has places available in its morning care between 6am and 9am and after school care from 3pm to 6pm on weekdays. It also runs a vacation care program.
