Two of the in-form sides in this season's Whitney Cup meet today at No. 3 Oval with competition leaders Newtown taking on Macquarie.
Newtown showed why they are top of the table last week when they cruised past defending premiers Rugby by eight wickets and they will be looking for a similar performance in today's one-day match.
Today the Tigers come up against a Macquarie side which last week moved into the top three for the first time this season.
The Blues began the season slowly but have found form in recent rounds and come into the match on the back of consecutive wins over CYMS and Souths.
While the Blues batting had been their strong point in previous wins, last week it was their bowling as the Hornets were rolled for 146.
Angus Cusack, Nathan Reichelt and Shane Dupille all impressed in that match and will be keen again to back-up the batting efforts of Jason Green, Keiran Brien and Ed Haylock.
Newtown prove time and time again they have the depth to cope with the pressure of leading the ladder with Mat and Steve Skinner, Wayne Dunlop and Dan Holland regularly producing match-winning performances.
In today's other match, Rugby and CYMS will both be out to rediscover that winning feeling.
The defending premiers have only won three times this season while the Cougar's drought-breaking victory over Souths back in round two is the only time they have tasted success this season.
In a blow for Rugby they will today be without skipper and leading batsman Jordan Moran but his place is set to be taken by veteran run-machine Michael Kempston.
The Cougars have received a huge boost with Ben Strachan available while they also welcome back Corey Suckling, who is home from university in Wollongong.
With Strachan and Suckling leading the way with the ball and the likes O'Donnell brothers Ben and Dale and spinners Ryan Medley and Stuart Naden all available the Cougars will fancy themselves against an out-of-sorts Rugby.
Despite their lean spell the defending premiers will still be confident going into today and with Mitch Bower, Ben Taylor and Aidan Bennewith all lining up they will back themselves to get the job done against the competition cellar-dwellers.
