The weather was kind, if a bit hot, but the thunderstorms that were predicted held off until the late afternoon.
Once again the Service gang were out there early and having fun shooting an Unrestricted Service Match before the main festivities. Greg Tink won the match with a handicap destroying score that chopped his handicap by 56 points.
Next home was Mick Davidson ahead of Alan Chan in third place.
The full results: G Tink 656,300,956 1st; M Davidson 814,34,848 2nd; A Chan 656,185,841 3rd; S Holmes 703,65,768.
The festivities started at 12pm with the ladies preparing lunch for the hungry mob, with a trifle dessert fit for a king.
But the main event of the day was the selection of club person of the year.
The judges could not separate the two finalists and so it was decided to award two trophies for 2014.
The two club persons of the year for 2014 are Helen Lord and Paula Heffernan.
Both ladies were both surprised and humbled as they received their awards.
The novelty shoot this year was in Standard Pistol format on Rapid Fire targets with reverse scoring, meaning the 10 ring became a 5 ring and vice versa.
With a nominated handicap it tested most of the 25 starters in this match.
But there is always a winner and that person was Gary Deagan.
Second place went to John Cohen with Bob O'Keefe third.
The final scores were: G.Deagan 599; J Cohen 595; B O'Keefe 591; P Calligeros 585; H Lord 579; R Johnson 575; S Holmes 572; D Coleman 565; J Strachan 564; W Johnson 560; R wheatley 556; J Boyle 555; D Lee 553; G Pollock 551; M Stevens 541; P Williamson 537; T Greer 530; J Salter 524; C Hyland 513; P Lord 512; Bruce Dowling 452; K Montgomery 442; N Scholz 438; W Tonniges 370; J Jones 361.
Many thanks to the range officers who ran these matches with a great deal of difficulty, due to the reverse scoring.
Tomorrow's match of the day will be Standard Pistol, Air Pistol and Free Pistol, with a smattering of Service WA1500.
