AFTER salvaging a little bit of pride last week during their loss to Newtown, South Dubbo will look to build on that performance against Rugby in their one-day match today.

The Hornets were demoralised on day one of their match with Newtown as the Tigers posted 5-418 but they fought back on day two to make 251 and avoid an outright loss. Rugby meanwhile come into today's match on the back of a spirited win over rivals RSL-Colts and will be aiming for their third consecutive win after their shock outright loss to Newtown in the opening round.
The defending premiers were without a number of regulars last week, including skipper Jordan Moran and opening bowler Ben Patterson, but managed to restrict Colts to 277 in reply to their 298.
Nathan Munro is coming off a century and will be a key in the Rugby top order while Moran himself has made one Whitney Cup century already this season and will be the main danger.
The worrying sign for the rest of the competition is apart from Moran and Munro the rest of Rugby's powerful batting line-up has yet to fire.
Mitch Bower, Aidan Bennewith and Harry Kempston can all inflict damage on bowlers but have yet to really get going in this season's Whitney Cup.
All will be looking for runs today in the one-day contest at No. 3 Oval while Patterson, Ben Taylor, Blake Watmore and Adrian Carey will be the main strike weapons with the ball.
For the Hornets, their hopes will again rest with the captain Tim Berry and opening batsmen Asher Robins while the likes of Adam Carr, Will Wolter, Scott Tucker and Justin Knudsen will all be looking to contribute.
Carr battled injury during the loss to Newtown and his side will be hoping the all-rounder can return to his best today while the bowlers will be keen to hit back after the pummelling they received from the Tigers.
Today's match begins at 1pm.
