Thanks to the work of Cancer Council volunteer Barbara Trethewey, what would have been a standard morning of golf will now be a pink paradise, with all players encouraged to dress up in their brightest attire.
The charity golf day is a threeperson ambrose in the morning, followed by an afternoon tea and raffle.
The first female named on the Dubbo golf course board, Mrs Trethewey is no stranger to the work of the Cancer Council NSW.
Having a total of seven immediate family members affected by the deadly disease, Mrs Trethewey said the support her family has received with each case was outstanding.
“It’s a great support network,” Mrs Trethewey said.
“I am so grateful to the Cancer Council.”
So much so, Mrs Trethewey has spent more than four years volunteering for the Cancer Council NSW at various fundraising events, like Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea and Daffodil Day.
“It’ not a chore, I always look forward to doing it,” she said.
Mrs Trethewey said she hoped to raise close to $500.
All proceeds raised from the Pink Golf Day will be donated directly to the Cancer Council NSW.
