Michelle Thompson along with Ann Warwick, Ailsa Smith and Jan Wilkin are taking every step in their stride to raise money for the Cerebral Palsy Alliance.
With their pedometers strapped firmly to their ankles, the four ladies are rallying to help the Cerebral Palsy Alliance purchase new therapy equipment, a cause which Michelle holds very close to her heart.
Michelle’s daughter Jenna and son Henry both have Friedreich’s Ataxia, a rare inherited disease which causes nervous system damage and movement problems.
Like many young Australians with cerebral palsy and other physical disabilities, Jenna and Henry rely on wheelchairs for mobility.
They have spent many years receiving regular therapy and support services from the Dubbo Cerebral Palsy Alliance team.
Michelle said the Dubbo team has been absolutely amazing.
“We’ve been able to access services like physiotherapy, occupational and hydro therapy,” she said.
“This support really helped Jenna and Henry to become as independent as possible.”
Michelle and the girls at Snazzi Scrappin’ and Beads are holding a fundraising event called Step into Snazzi.
The day will include a morning tea, lucky door prizes, make and takes and a raffle.
“We will be donating 20 per cent of all sales directly to STEPtember,” Michelle said.
The fundraising event begins at 10am, with a gold coin donation required for entry. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
All donations to the Snazzi Scrappin’ ladies can be made in store. For further details contact Michelle Thompson on 6882 9388.
