Receivers KordaMentha Restructuring are in the process of trying to sell Discount Superstore group, who own 143 Crazy Clarks and Sam's Warehouse outlets across Australia. They confirmed another 29 stores will shut later this month, including nine in NSW. At least 300 staff will lose their jobs because of the closures.
That is on top of the 10 store closures that were announced last Friday.
In a statement, KordaMentha spokesperson Michael Smith said Dubbo has been spared but more stores are being looked at.
All of the stores will have major sales up until their closure to clear stock. All Sam's Warehouse and Crazy Clarks stores, including Dubbo, are also holding major sales.
Mr Smith is encouraging people to shop at the stores, not only to support those that will remain open but also to help receivers raise money to pay staff entitlements.
Discount Superstore Group was placed in receivership last week after the owners were concerned by 'substantial debt' that had been accrued. It is the second time the stores have been in the hands of receivers.
