The group from the Dubbo Christian School will travel to the Philippines for the school's 2014 mission trip.
The team consists of 10 students from years 10 to 12, three staff members and one parent and they left yesterday.
The first four days will be spent in Darwin doing cross-cultural mission training with Youth With A Mission (YWAM).
They will then have eight days at the YWAM base in Manila.
Activities in the Philippines are being organised by YWAM and are expected to include visiting orphanages and schools and meeting with and supporting local groups.
"The main purpose of Dubbo Christian School mission trips is to expose our students to the needs in developing countries and experience a life that is very different to the abundance that we enjoy in Australia," staff member and mission trip participant Andrew Kinscher said.
The group recently gathered for a photo wearing their team shirts, which Mr Kinscher said were generously sponsored by Totally Workwear.
The trip will take place less than a year after Typhoon Haiyan hit the Philippines and caused much devastation.
