In fact regional issues deserve more attention than they have been getting.
While they may vex over the ICAC probe, an up-coming election, the tight economy and many other issues, government members should start getting things done for the regions.
So, Premier here is a list of seven issues that affect Dubbo and the region and that require action.
1. Stop the switching of government service costs to councils. This "hidden tax" trick has cost Dubbo millions.
2. Get Minister Pru Goward to tell us what she has done about our crime and social problems. We've been waiting two years.
4. Give our drought-hit farmers help when they need it, not in a penny-pinching manner when it is too little, too late.
5. Make a clear statement on where you stand on proposed council mergers. Will they ever be forced?
6. Take measures to cut youth unemployment which runs at about 12% in the regions.
7. Talk to your Health department about solving the Playmates issue. We are already short of child care spots.
The wish list is much longer.
It is long overdue for the government to listen and respond to regional needs and fix the problems.
Quick, waving-the-flag visits are one thing.
The regions want results.
