With the ANFD changing to a Thursday, Friday and Saturday format instead of the traditional mid-week event, this year presented new challenges and opportunities for organisers, exhibitors and visitors.
With 600 exhibitors in attendance it was obviously not possible to please everyone, however, ANFD organisers are pleased to report that the initial feedback from exhibitors has been overwhelmingly positive.
This has led the ANFD to confirm that the 2014 event will be held in the same format from Thursday, October 23 to Saturday, October 25.
The ANFD has recognised the changing face of Australian agriculture and the need to ensure we keep pace with changing times.
Moving to the new format is a way to open up the ANFD to people who combine on and off-farm work while retaining the strong focus on commercial agriculture it has always had in the past.
The ANFD depends on an army of volunteers who take the motto of "advancing Australian agriculture" to heart.
Planning this three-day event is an annual labour of love for ANFD staff and volunteers and they have done an outstanding job in 2013.
The ANFD is much more than just an outdoor sales event.
It includes recognition of farm innovators and inventors, demonstrations of the latest agricultural techniques and technology and opportunities for those in agricultural industries to learn about workplace safety, government assistance and their own health and welfare.
The ANFD has run continually since 1958 making this year the 63rd event.
While there is not enough room here to thank everyone individually, the ANFD would like to particularly thank the Australian Poll Dorset Association for an outstanding feature exhibit, as well as exhibitors old and new, service associations who lent their manpower and local media organisations for their interest.
In particular, the Central Western Daily compiled a colourful and informative official guide to the ANFD which was invaluable to many visitors over the three days.
The ANFD staff and committee hope to see even more people on October 23 to 25, 2014, and will work hard over the next 12 months to ensure the event is bigger and better than ever.
