Sam Ludeman, who made it into the final six of Team Seal on the Nine Network hit The Voice, is among a group of professional entertainers who will jazz up the festival's dance events.
The group has been put together by Dubbo's Charlie Bartley, who met Sam when they performed together in the stage musical Fame. Charlie is part of the group that also includes couple Stephen Tannos and Morgan Choice, directors of the dance company Tannos and Choice, who are set to perform on the Channel Ten show Everybody Dance Now, starting August 12.
Charlie has also scored a berth on the new show as part of Machismo, a group made up of young male dancers based in Sydney.
Amy Campbell, who performed with Charlie and rising star Timomatic at the 2011 festival, is also returning this year.
The DREAM (Dubbo Regional Entertainment Arts and Music) Festival is part of the Dubbo Festival.
Its dance component includes Little DREAMers, a non-competitive event on October 20 for children under 12 who will get the chance to show off their developing talents and dance alongside their idols. On the night of October 20 dancers from across the region will battle it out at the DREAM Dance Challenge for a share in a $5000 prize pool.
The DREAM Dance Workshops on October 21 offer students a chance to develop their skills and talent after the inspirational DREAM Dance Challenge.
DREAM Festival chairman John Walkom said the calibre of professionals attending the dance events was reflective of the local and regional performers.
"The talent of dancers in regional NSW is mind blowing, and that was evident last year when hundreds took to the stage and performed alongside Charlie, Amy and Timomatic," Mr Walkom said.
The chairman said the DREAM dance events provided the budding stars of tomorrow the opportunity to perform with professionals and learn from them at the workshops.
"Dubbo's dancers are up there with the best of the best and these DREAM events are showcasing the region as the dance mecca that it is," Mr Walkom said.
"No longer are these kinds of events only reserved for capital cities. We are thrilled to present the DREAM dance events and to have lined up five stellar performers for this year's program."
