Although 2012 has, in the main, been a very good one for the school it was marred by the sad and untimely loss of our teacher, friend and colleague, Ellen Lawler.
In her memory the Ellen Lawler Memorial Award has been instituted for a student who demonstrates the qualities of care, compassion, thoughtfulness and who always does their best with a smile.
It was wonderful to have Ellen's husband, Tony Lawler, present the initial award to deserving recipient, Joanna Camp.
We were fortunate in having a number of special guests come along to present the awards and their enthusiastic and ongoing support of the school is much appreciated.
Thank you to Annette Hoynes and Gwynn Gleeson, life members of the school, Barbara Barrett of the CWA Dubbo Branch, Jeanette Garling, wife of Bob Garling, former principal of Dubbo Public School, Dubbo College principals Daryl Thompson and Stacey Exner and Dubbo Public School P&C Association president Rachael Sinclair.
Every year the teachers have great difficulty in choosing award recipients because there are so many students who deserve recognition.
