DUBBO has pulled off a major coup by being given hosting rights for next year's BCiB State Pennants finals. A joint submission by Dubbo Railway and Dubbo West bowling clubs has been endorsed and as a result 16 zones will be represented in the No.7 finals over three days on August 3 to 5 next year. Glenn Morrison, the West Dubbo president, said preparations would start immediately with the City of Dubbo and the two clubs to be the winners.

"The pennant finals are much sought after and the bowlers love coming out to the country venues," he said.
"West Dubbo shared the No.2 finals two years ago with Dubbo City, then for this year (2012) we submitted a joint submission with Railway but were unsuccessful.
"Not to be denied we made the same application for the 2013 finals and it's now a done deal.
“To have these finals you need four greens which is the reason why we need partnerships between two clubs with both West and Railway having three greens each so that’s adequate.
“But the other important aspect about the hosting rights is that we have to assure Bowls NSW that we have adequate accommodation for the players, officials and supporters.
“Dubbo has a wonderful record of hosting major competitions and we are certain that will be the case again in August.”
Dubbo Railway general manager Jay Porter said the news comes as an ‘outstanding’ result.
“We were disappointed to miss out in 2012 but getting a final in 2013 is just great,” he said.
“There are 16 zones in New South Wales and they’ll all be here with three rinks of four players. Add officials for each team and others from the the state, and a group of supporters, it really makes for a wonderful gathering of people from all over the state.
“There will be eight teams at each venue for sectional play on the Saturday and Sunday morning, followed by semi-finals Sunday afternoon before the top teams come to Railway for the final Monday morning.”
