The court heard Crown solicitors had been briefed by the Department of Health. Both matters were adjourned to February 18 for the development of briefs of evidence and witness lists.
The coroner sitting at Dubbo, Magistrate Andrew Eckhold, said the deaths involved questions of hospital and medical treatment. "The briefs are very much in the preparation stage and need to be expanded,'' he said.
The deaths of Joonas Ville Lehtonen and Nicolai Margian were also mentioned in the coroner's court.
Lehtonen, 23, and Margian, 38, were involved in a motor vehicle collision near Ballimore on June 5.
The collision occurred at the intersection of Muronbong Road and the Golden Highway.
Lehtonen died at the scene.
Margian died at Westmead Hospital the following day. Roads and Maritime Services were granted to leave to appear.
Magistrate Eckhold said concerns had been raised about the roadway.
The deaths of Lehtonen and Margian were adjourned to January 23 for mention and to fix a hearing date.
