About six pedestrians rushed to help an elderly man who was struck by a vehicle reversing from a parking space in Macquarie Street yesterday, about 3pm.

The man was knocked to the ground as a result of the collision.
He appeared to have suffered minor injuries to his hand and a gash to the back of his head.
The driver of the vehicle rushed to provide assistance to the victim and along with other members of the public, helped support the man while he walked to the footpath
A staff member from a nearby business provided the man with a chair while he waited for an ambulance.
In the meantime an onlooker had wrapped the elderly man's head with a bandage from his own first aid kit.
The driver sat with the victim until he was taken by ambulance to Dubbo Base Hospital for treatment.
Police interviewed onlookers and breath-tested the driver at the scene.
