Ms Fish, who grew up in Dubbo, moved to Surfers Paradise in April with a friend and soon found herself a job as one of 12 Surfers Paradise meter maids, a Gold Coast icon that has been around for more than 43 years.
Her job entails dressing up in a gold bikini and roaming the streets of Surfers to top up expired parking meters and allow tourists to shop for longer.
As part of her job she also takes part in corporate functions and sells meter maid merchandise including calendars and drink coolers.
Currently Ms Fish is bracing herself for her first Super GP as a meter maid and said she couldn’t wait.
“Super GP will be an extremely busy time but a lot of fun for us,” she said.
“Thousands of people from all over the nation will be here.
“It will be just one huge party town, I am really looking forward to it.”
Ms Fish said her job allows her to meet a diverse range of people, including celebrities, and says it is also a good platform for future modelling work.
“It is a lot of fun and such a different and exciting job to have,” she said.
“You get to meet and talk to such a diverse range of people and learn about other cultures as the Gold Coast is such a great tourist area.
“I have met a lot of people and celebrities, one that stuck in my mind was Sonny Bill Williams - meeting him was just fantastic.
“The good thing about being a meter maid is it gives us a good platform to be seen.”
The Surfers Paradise meter maids were introduced in 1965 by Bernie Elsey to help beat the bad image created by the installation of parking meters on the tourist strip in December 1964.
