The professional skaters, BMX and scooter riders from the Newton’s Nation’s crew showcased their skill to an eager crowd who shared their passion for the sport, with many of those watching siting on a BMX bike or clutching a skateboard or scooter.
Dubbo was one of the first stops that experienced Newton’s Nation’s statewide extreme sports tour, which includes many regional centres including Orange, Lithgow, Bathurst, Cowra, Parkes and Forbes.
Bathurst will host Newton’s Nation Mount Panorama extreme sports and music event from November 26 to 28 which will showcase extreme sport professionals from across the world during the day and top Australian music talent such as You Am I and Operator Please at night.
“We are doing a road trip to promote Newton’s Nation in its third year to try to position it as an extreme games event,” Newton’s Nation event manager, Nicole Catling said.
The tour includes competitions and demonstrations as well as coaching from the professionals for eager up and coming skateboarders and BMX and scooter riders.
Although Newton’s Nation was Sydney-based, the members of the group include James Carter, a scooter rider from Parkes, and Dubbo skater Adyn Burns.
A wide age group made up the Newton’s Nation crew.
“The eldest is 23 and the youngest is 12,” Ms Catling said.
The tour will continue for two weeks and make 11 stops in that time.
“The last regional stop is Forbes and the tour ends at Monster Skate Park in Olympic Park,” Ms Catling said.
