The challenge kicked off on Tuesday, March 23 and will run for four days, finishing on Friday, March 26.
The event is held at the Dubbo Showground and run by members of Dubbo District Rotary Clubs.
Students travelled from more than 40 schools from various locations to compete at the first level, regional.
Typically, there are eight schools who compete each day, with each school providing a team of 32 students.
The teams are divided into eight groups that compete in one or two activities during the day.
The winning teams move on to state level and then nationals.
The activities range from building a hovercraft to making and using a bionic hand, designing a load-bearing bridge and creating a code using light.
