Orana Mid-Western NSW Police District supports Speak Out and 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence

Orana Mid Western Police District commander, Superintendent Peter McKenna reiterates the seriousness of domestic violence.

"Domestic Violence is a serious crime that has significant impacts across our communities," he said.

"Police are serious about eliminating violence and abuse as the consequences are devastating."

NSW Police Force Western Region domestic violence coordinator Rebecca Camilleri said police are working closely with agencies and communities across the region to better support those affected by domestic violence.

"One domestic violence incident is one too many," she said.

NSW Police Western Region domestic violence coordinator Kerry Seaton said the campaigns highlight the need for all of us to stand together in order to bring an end to domestic violence.

The 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence campaign, which starts annually on November 25, is International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.

The campaign then ends on December 10, which is Human Rights Day.
