Assistant minister for Home Affairs Linda Reynolds said the storms that occurred from December 20 onwards caused significant damage to property, motor vehicles and other public infrastructure.
“A range of assistance is available to help affected individuals, small businesses, primary producers and councils recover from the storm,” Ms Reynolds said.
Measures available for those affected by the storms and floods include:
- assistance to help people who are uninsured, have sustained damage to homes or contents, and meet an assets and income test.
- assistance to help councils in the affected Local Government Areas with the costs associated with cleaning up and restoring damaged essential public assets.
- concessional interest rate loans for small businesses, primary producers and not-for-profit organisations.
- freight subsidies for primary producers.
- grants to not-for-profit organisations.
