A city-wide investigation has been launched to recover a fibreglass rhino statue that was stolen from the turn-off to the Dubbo City Regional Airport this week.
Dubbo Regional Council is urging anyone with information about the rhino, which was last seen on Tuesday, July 17, to contact Dubbo Police.
A $2500 reward has been offered for information leading to a conviction.

“The audacity of someone to be able to get away and steal a rhino that size … poachers!” Mayor Ben Shields said.
“It would have had to be someone with the gear to do it, and it couldn’t just go in a usual car boot.
“It sounds funny but it’s actually serious … the rhinos are there to promote Dubbo and we’re starting to build a real reputation for being a vibrant city and a lot of that has been on the back of the work of the Taronga Western Plains Zoo.

Anyone with information about the rhino’s whereabouts is urged to call Dubbo Police on 6883 1599.
