An “honour” and something “awesome” is how Wellington’s Sally Moylan describes being part of the women’s Aboriginal XI squad which departs for the UK on Friday.

The tour is an incredible opportunity for the female outfit, with the average age of the squad just 20.
Moylan, now based in Canberra, and fellow Wellington star Sara Darney have both made the side after impressing for numerous sides, including the NSW Indigenous side, for a number of years.
“It’s definitely an honourable thing commemorating 150 years since the first ever Australian team got sent overseas, not only Australian but Aboriginal, in a time they were facing great diversity,” Moylan told The Wellington Times after being selected.
“It's an awesome opportunity and a great initiative Cricket Australia have come up with in highlighting how resilient and adaptable Aboriginal culture is when given different opportunities.
“It’s pretty nice to be able to showcase Wellington and the hard yards that both Sara and myself have put in over the years coming through primary school with Liz Jeffries and high school with Brian Johnson who were a very influential part of my cricketing career.”
The women’s squad is captained by Australian play Ash Gardner and will contest four matches in the UK.
The first is on June 7 against Surrey with games against Sussex, National Cricket Council and the ECB Academy to follow.
