Larance was picked for the Australian side for the Under 16 International Series at Melbourne after a sensational summer and he grabbed the opportunity with both hands.

“It’s totally different to anything I have done before. It really is the next level and we learnt that if you don’t take your opportunities you won’t win the game,” Larance said.

“I think I am a much better player and I really cherished the experience.”

Australia and Pakistan both finished with three wins in the International Series. The home side won the ODI series 3-2 but lost the Twenty20 match.

Larance finished with 75 runs at an impressive strike rate of 111.9 but his efforts with the ball were just as impressive. 

He took four wickets and his off-spin proved an important weapon against the large number of left handers in the Pakistan team.

“I didn’t think I’d be doing that much bowling but because there were eight left-handed batsmen they used my off-spin to frustrate them and help the bowler up the other end get wickets,” the CYMS product said.

“In our fourth game I took one for eight off eight and that was a real highlight for me.”

His best performance with the bat came in the third match where, chasing just 60 for victory, he cut loose and made an unbeaten 40 off 30 balls, including three fours and four sixes.

He also made 20 off 14 balls in the Twenty20 match, and in the final ODI matches he was 5 not out and 1 not out, without the chance to show what he could do.

It wasn’t just his own form or that of his team that Larance enjoyed. 

“The last one-dayer We made 260 and we thought that was going to be tough to defend. Their captain was in good form and that’s the best innings I’ve ever watched.

After a heavy workload over the summer, Larance is ready for a six-week break.

“It’s something I’ve been looking forward to for a while. I’m looking forward to putting the kit away and playing a bit of soccer.”
