Cowra High School has a variety of scholarships to assist students with their transition to tertiary studies.
Application forms for the scholarships can be obtained from the school library, and are due back to Meg Robinson by December 1.
Scholarships include the Patricia Fagan Scholarship, which is based on academic achievement and administered by the Calleen Trust. The student who earns the scholarship will receive payment each year of the degree.
There are two Enid J Langfield scholarships the first is in support of health orientated degrees such as medicine, dentistry, nursing and radiography, the scholarship is paid annually at a rate of $2000 for the duration of the degree.
The second is also pad annually at the rate of $2000 per year and supports anyone studying agricultural science at university.
The Henley Scholarship is funded by Tom and Margaret Henley and administered by the Cowra Rotary Club. This scholarship is open to anyone proceeding to some form of tertiary study.
The Cowra Services Club scholarship is also open to any student from Cowra High School who is going to study at university.
The Frank Hackett-Jones Science award goes to a student who has done at least two units of maths and four units of science in their HSC, and is going to study science at a tertiary level. This award goes to a student who achieves highly.
The Allan Mitchell APEX Scholarship for information technology is worth $300 and is open to any student completing a computing based degree.
Other local scholarships, that aren't provided through Cowra High School are also available.
The The Cowra Education Foundation provides assistance to students facing financial difficulty, but wish to further their studies. Information on this can be found at www.cef.org.au/cowra.html
The Australian Federation of University Women also give a scholarship to the female with the highest ATAR who has lived within 100 km of Cowra, information on this scholarship is available at www.afgw.org.au
Universities also have a range of scholarships available for future students.
